More flights for Seychelles and Abu Dhabi

Traveling to Abu-Dhabi and to other destinations beyond the Abu-Dhabi hub has now been enhanced with the signing of an agreement between the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi governments.

Traveling to Abu-Dhabi and to other destinations beyond the Abu-Dhabi hub has now been enhanced with the signing of an agreement between the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi governments.

The agreement, which is an extra-bilateral arrangement supplementary to the UAE/Seychelles Air Service Agreement signed in 1992, will allow both Etihad Airways (EY), the designated airline of the Abu Dhabi government, and Air Seychelles (HM) the national airline, to operate up to 14 weekly passenger flights and 7 weekly cargo operations with any type of aircraft, whether owned or leased on its respective routes.

This arrangement will allow Etihad Airways and Air Seychelles to improve services provided to its guests with possibilities to extend to various destinations in the region, such as Comoros; Madagascar; Kilimanjaro, Kenya; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and faraway destinations such as Australia.

โ€œWe are happy that the agreement was completed successfully, as it is part and parcel of our continuous efforts to encourage air services development in Seychelles. This move also shows our support to the development of strong air link between Seychelles and Abu Dhabi,โ€ said Minister Joel Morgan when he met the officials of the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi the previous week to agree on the term of the MOU.

The final version of the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Terence Mondon, the Principal Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Transport, and his Excellency Mr. Mohammed Hareb Al Yousef from the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, following negotiations between representatives of the two countries. This was done in a brief ceremony, which took place at the Seychelles International Airport, Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority Headquarters, yesterday afternoon.
