LONDON, England – When is the best time to travel? What type of clothes should I pack? Where is the capital of Windhoek located and how many species of wildlife can I find in Etosha National Park? Answers to these and many more questions can be found on the new, free of charge iPad app entitled โ€œDiscover Namibiaโ€. Various interactive applications, vivid imagery and 360ยฐ panoramic views as well as direct links to online platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps make the virtual tour both an informative and entertaining experience.

The user friendly, straight forward structure is divided into various fields of interest. Among these are Namibiaโ€™s fantastic landscapes, its diverse wildlife, a variety of leisure activities as well as the countryโ€™s rich cultural heritage. In addition to general information, users will also find answers to specific questions in relation to travel within Namibia. Readers will, for example, learn about the ten top destinations in the country featuring, amongst others, Etosha Nationalpark, the red dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib desert, Fishriver Canyon as the second largest canyon in the world and the ragged Skeleton Coast in the countryโ€™s northwest. A special section is also dedicated to nature and wildlife conservation. This is a particularly fascinating subject due to the fact that Namibia is the first country in the world to have conservation written into its constitution. . As a result, approximately 42% of the countryโ€™s land is protected today.

Families travelling with children will also find valuable information here. This ranges from important medical advice to fascinating experiences in the countryโ€™s different regions, which are especially appealing to the little ones. A special section about the national carrier Air Namibia reveals information about getting to and from the country, such as the daily direct flights from Frankfurt to Namibiaโ€™s capital Windhoek. A comprehensive list of accommodation options such as lodges, camps and hotels, which are updated on a regular basis, complete the overall picture.

The Namibia App is not only a helpful and reliable source when planning a trip but is also a varied, interactive read inviting its audience to be inspired by the haunting natural beauty of this multifaceted country in South West Africa.

Maureen Posthuma, Area Manager Europe of the Namibia Tourism Board: โ€œOur special thanks go to the Dutch publishing house Your World Publishing, who developed the Namibia iPad App in collaboration with us, as well as to the authors of the texts and to all individuals who provided the beautiful photographs.โ€

The Namibia App created for the European market can now be downloaded from the Apple App Store in English. German, French, Italian and Dutch versions are set to be released this autumn and an iPhone application will be created shortly.
