Bicycle tour operators in Europe benefit from new partnership

A new partnership of independent bicycle tour operators in Europe, Cycle-Cities, was started by London Bicycle in 2011. “Cycle-Cities already represents 25 bicycle tour operators in most major European cities,” said Steve Kopandy, the Australian-born Marketing Manager at London Bicycle.

The partnership allows independent companies with small financial resources to be visible in a larger marketplace. “A partnership such as Cycle-Cities’ is particularly important for independent bicycle tour operators that must compete for business against large franchises, which already dominate in some countries,” said Kopandy.

“Cycle Cities, and its model of cooperation across regions, has the potential to expand beyond regions and go global,” said Kopandy, who revealed there are plans to network into other areas of tourism. “We are quite confident about the success of this model, as business operators quickly see the benefit of this kind of sustainable cooperation – we’re extremely proud to facilitate it,” he said.

This year, Cycle-Cities began to incorporate bicycle hire and bicycle holidays in Europe to the partnership, because the existing bicycle city tour partners demanded it. Cycle-Cities recently forged partnership with Cityjet, Eurostar, Wicked Campers, and more companies, which actively promote the Cycle-Cities concept to their clientele.
