Mexico’s Gulf of California were rocked by two strong earthquakes at magnitudes of 6.9 and 6.2, occurring just minutes apart early Thursday morning at 12:16 am and 12:06 am local time.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquakes were centered approximately 85 miles northeast of the town of Guerrero Negro in the Mexican state of Baja California.
No tsunami warnings were issued and there were no immediate reports of damage.
People as far north as Tucson, Arizona, reported feeling the trembling.
