Korean Airlines Boeing 777 Flight 72 was forced to make an emergency landing at approximately 5:30 pm on Tuesday evening at Comox Air Force base in Vancouver Island after receiving a bomb threat. The original flight route was from Vancouver to Seoul, South Korea, and was just 25 minutes into its flight.

According to a spokesman for Korean Airlines, someone called the airlineโ€™s office in Los Angeles, California, and made a bomb threat that referred specifically to that flight.

An ambulance and fire truck were standing by, and emergency personnel worked to secure the aircraft. American forces responded to the emergency, along with US fighter jets from Portland, Oregon, that escorted the plane back for a landing.

This is the second time a threat was made on this route. Both times, the threat was made via telephone and by callers that spoke English. It has not yet been determined if the caller is the same person in both instances.
