The Seychelles Tourism Board continues to firm-up the seal of cooperation with La Reunion island by participating at the second edition of the Foire Internationale de La Reunion, which was held on March 3-11.

The islandโ€™s Tourism Board had the backing of local partners Mason’s Travel (Pty) Ltd. represented by Lucy Jean-Louis ([email protected]), Creole Travel Services represented by Marie-France Michaud ([email protected]), Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino Seychelles represented by Josette Francois and Chรขteau St. Cloud with its representative Myriam St.Ange ([email protected]).

Before and during the nine-day event, several big billboards depicting the beautiful Creole islands could be seen throughout the island of La Reunion. This prompted the Seychelles stand to attract a lot of interest from curious visitors wanting to know more about the destination and the packages now on offer. The masonโ€™s Travel and Creole Travel Services, two local destination management companies (DMCs) who traveled with the Tourism Board to La Reunion, and Welcome Vacances, a travel agent from La Reunion Island, had on offer different new packages for clients interested in booking a Seychelles holiday or simply curious to know more about the destination.

Sharen Venus, the Seychelles Tourism Board Senior Marketing Executive who attended the fair, noted that Seychellesโ€™ presence at the Foire Internationale de La Reunion was very positive.

โ€œThere were a lot of interests, some clients had already booked their flight, looked for accommodation, and some were in the process of planning to come during the year,โ€ Mrs. Venus explained.

More importantly, Seychelles is getting huge recognition in La Reunion after the French Indian Ocean island co-hosted with Seychelles the Carnaval International de Victoria from March 2-4.

โ€œThe perception that Seychelles is a very expensive and luxurious destination, only for the rich, is slowly fading away. People are now very aware that Seychelles is accessible not only by the direct flight but also in terms of all budgets. A great majority of visitors from La Reunion island, who have been more than 3 times to Mauritius for their holidays, now wants a change of scenery and [to] visit Seychelles,โ€ Mrs. Venus added.

Mrs. Jacqueline Soopramanian, the Seychelles Tourism Ambassador residing on La Reunion island, was present for the duration of the fair, showing her support and assisting the Seychelles delegation at the stand. Together with Mrs. Venus, they discussed different futuristic projects including potential educational visit to Seychelles.

It must be noted that La Reunion island remains as a potential destination for Seychelles to gain more arrivals, with direct flights that are only 2 1/2 hours and without any time difference.
