The lucky winners of the second edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria – the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands’ Carnival – have received their prizes following the prize-giving ceremony that took place at the Seychelles Tourism Board head office in Bel Ombre, on Monday, March 19, 2012.

The winners were presented with their carnival lottery prizes in the presence of the new Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt, Marie-France MacGregor, who for the second consecutive time has successfully made the lottery possible, as well as other representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Board and sponsors of the lottery.

This year, the Indian Ocean Vanilla Island’s carnival had a total of 20 prizes to be won with a Hyundai i10 as the star prize. The lucky winner of the Hyundai i10, S. Mathiot, was personally present at the ceremony to collect the keys and take home her new car.

The first prize of the 2012 Carnival lottery, which was R50, 000, was won by Marie Ange Bijoux, while the second prize of R20, 000 went to Berjaya Beau Vallon Beach Resort & Casino, and the third prize of R15, 000 was won by S. Rath.

Other lucky winners were Ashvin Lablache, C. Port Louis, Mike Maria, Philomena Hollanda, K. Pierre, Elisha Esparon, Tracey Pillay, Amber Arrisol, Romellia Radegonde, Gretel Constance, Joachim Hoareau, Michel Philoe, Laurent Carrolla, Daniolla Elisa, Ned Antat, Calix Lavigne, and F. Jeremie.

Before the winners, who were present at the ceremony, were presented with their prizes, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt congratulated everyone who had won a prize for the lottery and thanked all those who showed their support of the event by buying the tickets.

“The Seychelles Tourism Board is grateful to all those who tried their luck at the carnival lottery and today, we are pleased to present to those, whose stroke of luck were greater, with their prizes,” said Mrs. Grandcourt.

She then continued by expressing the Seychelles Tourism Board’s gratitude towards the sponsors who helped make the lottery a success.

This year, Carnaval International de Victoria – the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands’ Carnival – was hosted jointly by Seychelles and Reunion Island. Held during the weekend of March 2-4, the Carnaval International de Victoria saw over 80 press personalities, several international dignitaries, including the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary General, Taleb Rifai, and over 30 international delegations joined Seychelles and La Reunion in the capital of Victoria for this unique annual event.

The third edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria is set to return to Seychelles on February 8-10, 2013.
