DOHA • Qatar Airways has been voted best airline in the Middle East for the third consecutive year at the ’19th Annual Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) Travel Awards’ ceremony held in the Thai capital Bangkok.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, said: “Once again, Qatar Airways has shown it is the preferred airline for the travel industry in Asia. This award demonstrates the consistency and dedication the airline is committed to providing its customers. We have massive expansion plans for the Far East region. Recognition such as this award will continue to spur the airline on in its development.” Since 2007, Qatar Airways has launched several new routes throughout Asia, including Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Guangzhou in China and Bali in Indonesia.

The airline has also increased frequencies on a number of Asian routes including, Kuala Lumpur, Manila Osaka and Seoul. Further expansion in the near future includes the launching of several new destinations and increasing frequencies on existing routes, Al Baker said.

Marwan Koleilat, Qatar Airways Senior Vice-President (Commercial), for the region led an airline delegation at the dinner ceremony held at the Centara Grand Hotel in Bangkok and received the award on behalf of the carrier. “We are very honoured to receive this award as voted by the readers of TTG Asia. A big thank you must go out to all those people involved in making this possible.

Qatar Airways would especially like to thank its travel trade partners and industry professionals across Asia for their continued support of the airline,” Koleilat said. The TTG Awards honours 72 winners across four categories — two voting and two non-voting.
