The Madagascar Tourism promotional organization has confirmed that they will be participating at the 2102 Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnival that takes place annually in the Seychelles. Madagascar, along with Seychelles, La Reunion, Mauritius, Mayotte, and Comoros are part of that India Ocean Vanilla Islands promotional concept aimed at placing the Indian Ocean Islands as a tourism region in its own right.

It was Lalaina Rabemananjara, the Direction for Promotions from the Office National du Tourisme de Madagascar, who informed the Seychelles authorities that Madagascar wanted to be present. This brings the Vanilla Islands Members to three out of six attending the carnival 2012. Madagascar, La Reunion, and Seychelles will showcase the culture of their islands and put in the forefront the islanders that make up their population.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has welcomed the confirmation of Madagascar at the 2012 carnival. โ€œThis is a great expression of solidarity and of unity,โ€ Alain St.Ange said.

La Reunion and Seychelles are co-organizers of this carnival this year. The carnival is set to be launched next Friday, March 2 in Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles.
