TANZANIA (eTN) – Taking advantage of the fast-growing air connection between East Africa and the Middle East, Tanzania is lobbying tourists and travel trade investments from Gulf States and rest of the Arab World.
A team of tourist business stakeholders and marketing officials from Tanzania are in the Middle East looking for potential tourists and investors in tourism, lobbying them to visit and invest in Tanzaniaโs fast-growing tourist industry.
Tanzanian Prime Minister Mr. Mizengo Pinda is leading a team of tourist marketing professionals from the Tanzania Tourist Board, other government tourism policy-making institutions, and private stakeholders, all looking to reap from the Gulf Statesโ tourist markets.
The Tanzanian Prime Minister and his delegation held a two-day symposium on tourism and investment at Le Meridien Hotel in Dubai during their first leg of the trip in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Areas of tourist investment and which Tanzania is lobbying in the Gulf States are hotel and tented camping development.
Taking advantage of the Middle East registered airline companies operating in the African skies, the Tanzania Tourist Board is currently running marketing campaigns to attract visitors from the Gulf States.
Although the number of Arab tourists to East Africa is not as big as the European and American holidaymakers, there has been a notable figure of hunting tourists from the Middle East to Tanzania and the rest of East Africa.
About 14,000 tourists from the Middle East states visit East Africa every year, compared to traditional tourists from Europe and North America. Although small in figures, East African nations are taking advantage of the Middle East-registered airlines to be a lifeline for Arab-speaking holidaymakers.
Low-cost airlines registered in Middle Eastern states flying to Tanzania including Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, and Fly Dubai, which are the most competitive over Tanzanian airspace, are making a good link between East African nations and the rest of the world through Dubai, Doha, and Muscat.
