Heathrow ready to welcome families and children during half-term

Heathrow is rolling out its purple carpet for families and children flying through the airport during half-term with new services and limited-time offers to ensure their journeys start off right.

From February 13th to the 23rd,  Heathrowโ€™s Mr. Men characters โ€“ Mr. Adventure and Little Miss Explorer โ€“ will visit the terminals with Passenger Ambassadors, encouraging children to take part in craft activities. This year, children can also get started on the Mr. Men fun ahead of their travels through the new Mr. Men family portrait feature which allows them to assign Mr. Men characters to family members and friends to create a personalised portrait.

For parents and guardians, Heathrow has brought back the ever-popular Kids Eat Free offer,  available at selected restaurants across terminals when an adult also eats (T&Cs apply).

This month also marks the start of Heathrowโ€™s  certified โ€œFriendly WiFiโ€ across terminals โ€“  reassuring parents and guardians that Heathrowโ€™s super-fast free WiFi network will filter out inappropriate content, and be safe for children to use. This certification has been carried out by FriendlyWiFi โ€“ the government initiated standard which ensures public WiFi meets minimum filtering standards, particularly in areas where children are present.  The Friendly WiFi symbol was created and launched in partnership with the The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS).

Heathrowโ€™s Chief Commercial Officer Ross Baker said:

โ€œOur ambition is to provide the worldโ€™s best airport service for all our passengers โ€“ no matter their age. We are delighted to welcome back our popular Mr. Men characters, family services and offers. As a parent myself, I am especially pleased that we now offer certified โ€œFriendly WiFIโ€ which will keep our youngest passengers safe online, and give parents the reassurance and peace of mind they deserve in their travels through the airport.โ€
