Agra – A woman tourist from Indore died after she slipped and fell on the marbled surface of the Taj Mahal after the city was hit by rain and thundershowers. Hasina Bano Chaudhary lost her balance and fell from the main marble structure Saturday.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel guarding the monument tried to take her to the hospital, but she collapsed at the main gate due to profuse bleeding from the head.

Last week, a south Indian tourist slipped and suffered a fracture at the Taj.

The city was hit by a thunder storm Saturday afternoon. This was followed by a drizzle that continued for several hours bringing down temperatures.

At the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, tourists were caught unaware. โ€œThe whole area was enveloped in a thick cloud of yellow dust and we were really scared some trees might get uprooted and cause accidents,โ€ said Narsimhan from Tamil Nadu.

โ€œAfter the rains, the Taj looked fresh and beautiful. The Yamuna too has some water to add to the ambience,โ€ said Amit, a tourist guide.
