It has been confirmed that Australian Aboriginal artists are flying to the Seychelles to be part of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnival of carnivals. Heath Bergersen and Derek Nannup will be flying the Australian colors in the carnival procession alongside the best and most-known carnivals of the world and cultural groups from the Community of Nations.

The Carnival, staged in Seychelles, jointly hosted by Seychelles and La Reunion, remains under the theme of the โ€œmelting pot of cultures,โ€ and this coming edition of the carnival is set to see culture from the four corners of the world.

โ€œThis is why we are happy to see that Australia has confirmed the participation of โ€˜indigenous performers.โ€™ This brings added color and difference to the carnival that continues to attract participation from far and wide to provide a unique colorful spectacle on carnival day,โ€ Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, said.

From Australia, it is said that Heath Bergersen, born on March 18, 1976 in Derby, Western Australia, is said to be adaptable and talented, which makes him an ideal actor for a wide variety of roles in television, theatre, and movies. He is an excellent didgeridoo player and often participates in commercials and documentaries. Heath has charm, talent, and a spirit that affects everyone who hears him perform, whether it is on the international stage or in the intimacy of a friendโ€™s home.

Derek Nannup on his part has roots that lie in street and circus performance, but he is also a gifted actor, musician, and comedian. Derek has worked long and hard in all these fields to achieve his status as a leading national indigenous artist. Derek is one of only a handful of skilled indigenous circus performers in Australia fostering his skills with the Reg Bolton Circus Troupe. This remarkable young man, it is said, has proved to be an inspirational role model to hundreds of indigenous youth as a performer and workshop facilitator.

Both performers are due in Seychelles to participate at the official opening ceremony of the islandโ€™s carnival 2012.
