In a move to encourage interaction and participation of young Seychellois in the 2012 Carnival, Emirates and the Seychelles Tourism Board have announced a joint drawing competition for primary schools of the archipelago.

Pupils aged between 6 and 12 years are being called upon to depict the Emirates float for the 2012 Carnival in a drawing, according to the theme: โ€œMix of Cultures.โ€ Entries should feature dancers from South America and Asia, among others. The design of the Emirates float will actually be inspired from the winning drawing.

Oomar Ramtoola, Emiratesโ€™ Manager for the Indian Ocean stated: โ€œWe are extremely pleased to launch this competition in the Seychelles. It is even more exciting, as it entices the participation of young Seychellois.โ€

He added: โ€œEmirates supported the Seychelles Carnival last year, and we recently announced that we will be the Official Airline for the 2012 Carnival. This drawing competition is yet another demonstration of our involvement in this major event.โ€

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, on his part said that Emiratesโ€™ idea to involve the schools of Seychelles in designing their 2012 Carnival Float was a welcomed move.

โ€œThe carnival staged in Seychelles jointly by the Vanilla Islands of Seychelles and La Reunion under the slogan, โ€˜Melting Pot of Cultures,โ€™ will be consolidated only if the youths of our islands are involved. Emirates is giving the youth of Seychelles ownership of developing ideas that will be seen as the float of the carnivalโ€™s partner airline. It is a great move and the Tourism Board commends the initiative,โ€ said Alain St. Ange.

All entries must reach Emiratesโ€™ office at the below address by February 6, 2012:
