SATTE 2012 has added another feather to its cap. Close on the heels of the CII-SATTE conference tie-up, the UN World Trade Organization (UNWTO) has collaborated with SATTE and will make a presentation as part of the SATTE conferences program.

On February 12, the UNWTO presentation on global trends titled โ€œGlobal Trends in Travel & Tourism,โ€ will be made. The presentation will explore trends for the next decade and will answer many questions including: โ€œWhat will be the significant changes in the tourism industry? Which new destinations will emerge in the next decade? Which source markets will continue to hold fort?โ€ among others. An address by UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai will also be read at the inaugural event.

The conferences at SATTE 2012 will reinforce that there is a plethora of opportunities in the Indian tourism space and that tourism has emerged as a serious business in the country.

SATTE 2012 โ€“ PLATFORM FOR INDIAN STATES TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

SATTE has always been a strong and reliable platform for Indian states to showcase their splendor to the domestic market, and international buyers and SATTE 2012 will be no different. States from north, west, south, and central India will each maximize the SATTE platform to promote their unique tourism products. A preview at some of the states who will be exhibiting at SATTE next month and a glimpse at few of the products they will be showcasing:

MINISTRY OF TOURISM

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), government of India, has consistently been supporting SATTE since its inception. As every year, the MoT will participate at SATTE and has confirmed its participation at SATTE 2012. At SATTE 2012, the ministry will showcase a profile of Indian tourism products with a focus on culture, heritage, wellness, wildlife, and rural tourism among others. The focus will also be on showcasing the hidden treasure of the unexplored Indian North Eastern states at SATTE 2012.
CHHATTISGARH

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) will promote its range of diverse tourism products at SATTE 2012. It will showcase its wildlife, tribal culture, waterfalls, Bastar, fairs and festivals, and ancient heritage. It will also use the SATTE platform to educate the travel trade about various initiatives taken at infrastructure and promotional fronts to the travel trade.

CTB has rolled out a 360-degree advertising campaign recently across various media including television, print, radio, web, social media, outdoor, events, and activities. The creatives of the campaign highlight the state’s 2000-year-old culture and heritage through images of tribal dance, natural beauty, historic monuments, and wildlife.

GOA

Goa Tourism sees SATTE 2012 as an extravagant platform to showcase Goa to a wider audience. They want to promote the state as not only a beach destination or dry weather destination but also as an all-year-round destination. SATTE has always been a premium travel trade event, and Goa tourism would like to treat this as a platform to thank all their travel trade partners who have continued to show support in developing the state as the most preferred travel destination in India.

JAMMU AND KASHMIR

The main highlights of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Board will be adventure, golf, heli skiing, heritage, and cultural tourism. J&K Tourism will participate in SATTE 2012 with private players including hotels, tour operators, and travel agents from the three regions of the state: Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. Apart from this, J&K Tourism will also highlight its latest development on the infrastructure front and to show the global tourism market that the state offers quality experiences and is a premium tourist destination for Indian and foreign visitors.

J&K Tourism will highlight that J&K is not only about Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam, and Vaishno Devi, but has a lot more to offer. Destinations such as Lidder, Lolab, Bangus, Dachigam, Gurez, and Yousmarg in Kashmir; Kargil, Zanskar, Leh, Nubra in Ladakh and Akhnoor, Patnitop, Bhaderwah, and Kishtwar in the Jammu, among others will be showcased.

KARNATAKA

At SATTE 2012, Karnataka Tourism plans to highlight the stateโ€™s heritage and culture by promoting its world heritage sites, jungle lodges and resorts, the KSTDC package tours, and also the famous Golden Chariot train. Vishwanatha Reddy, Director Tourism, Karnataka, said Karnataka Tourism sees SATTE 2012 as an opportunity to promote inbound and domestic tourism in India. “Over the past years, SATTE has proved to be one of the best domestic events in India and has always given us great results,” he added. Karnataka Tourism will participate in SATTE 2012 with an aim to promote responsible tourism and also explore the opportunity to interact with the trade partners to build long-term relations.

MADHYA PRADESH

Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) will use the SATTE platform to highlight the wildlife and heritage destinations of the state. MP also wants to create awareness among the stakeholders about some innovative steps taken by the state to expand its tourism product portfolio. Having introduced unique tourism products like Caravan Tourism and air taxi service to connect tourism destinations in the state, MP offers a great opportunity for experiential tourism. MP also sees this as an opportunity to draw private investment to strengthen the hospitality infrastructure of the state through PPP mode.

A delegation of 12 private players from various segments of the industry will represent MP. These players will explore the opportunity for tourism growth at SATTE. The state will be represented by senior officials of MPSTDC including Chairman Mohan Yadav, Managing Director Pankaj Rag, and Chief General Manager (Marketing) O V Chaudhary.
