Derogatory comments about drunken New Zealand and Australian visitors led to a firing of Dubrovnik tourism official.
The woman told a local newspaper that when young New Zealanders and Australians arrive in Dubrovnik, they’re “drunk and crazy” – and it’s not appropriate for the city.
The comments have landed her in hot water with Dubrovnik’s Mayor, who says he won’t be renewing her contract as the city’s tourism destination manager.
Andro Vlahusic says Dubrovnik is an open and free city where all guests are welcome, and the woman’s comments were unacceptable.
