A new website on Kenya’s tourism destination has been launched in the Italian language.

A new website on Kenya’s tourism destination has been launched in the Italian language.

Tourism minister Najib Balala unveiled the new site www.magicalkenya.com in Milan, Italy on Saturday as part of the ongoing activities of the Kenya Tourism and Cultural week in Milan.

Italian tourists to Kenya have been obtaining 80% of information about the country from the internet but prefer to make their bookings through traditional travel agents partly due to language difficulties.

“By launching the Kenyan website in Italian the online sector has become the most important area of focus for both the tourism industry and the National Tourism Organizations all over the world”, Balala said..

“The Internet is today the premier source of information and bookings for tourists and generates revenue of over US Dollars 50 billion annually”, he added.

He said the new site would contribute to increased tourist numbers from Italy and Italian speaking people from other parts of the world with ripple effect in various economic activities in the Kenya and promotion of the tourism to the key global markets.
