NEW YORK – JetBlue Airways today is pleased to announce the start of twice-weekly service to La Romana, its fifth destination in the Dominican Republic and its 67th BlueCity. The largest airline in the Dominican Republic takes to the skies between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and La Romana International Airport (LRM) with service on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
To kick off a week-long celebration of new service announcements, today JetBlue Getaways will be giving away five four-day, three-night vacation packages for two including roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations to La Romana. Customers can visit jetblue.com/instantwin to receive a virtual scratch off card for their chance to win.
Tomorrow through Saturday, customers can also enter for a chance to win one of five vacation packages each day to Liberia, Costa Rica, as well as St. Thomas and St. Croix respectively. Everyone who enters to win will also receive a $50 discount code off a future JetBlue Getaways vacation package.
“JetBlue is pleased to offer the only service from the Northeast to La Romana and to make a vacation getaway even easier than before,” said JetBlue Director Schedule Planning Dave Clark. “We’re excited to say that La Romana is our fifth destination in the Dominican Republic, something we’re very proud of as the largest carrier in the country.”
“La Romana’s privileged location along the breathtaking Chavon River, the Caribbean Sea and some of the most geologically rich natural areas in the Dominican Republic make it an ideal spot for exploring nature among peaceful towns and upscale resorts,” said Magaly Toribio, Vice Minister of International Promotion for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. “The nearby resort community of Bayahibe is a visitor favorite with pristine beaches and nature tours including the Padre Nuestro Archeological Trail in the National Park of the East. And you must not miss Altos de Chavon, a 16th century artists’ village; the area’s world-class golf courses; and the Cave of Wonders featuring ancient Taino Indian drawings that delight and mystify visitors,” she added.
“As a great many of our guests and villa owners reside in the New York area and frequently travel to the northeast US., we are thrilled with the launch of this new nonstop service,” said Dr. Claudio Silvestri, President and CEO of Premier Resorts & Hotels, the management company for Casa de Campo. “With an 8-minute transfer to Casa de Campo after landing, our guests can easily spend the afternoon at the beach, play a round of golf, watch an afternoon polo match or go for a horseback ride.”
