BERLIN (September 18, 2008) – The Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung e.V. (Institute for Tourism and Development) has just activated its new Project-Website in German and English. www.tourguide-qualification.org offers essential information about the “Intercultural Training Seminars for Tour Guides in Developing, Newly-Industrializing and Transition Countries.”

The goal of the seminars is to inspire and to train tour guides to actively work for a better understanding between different cultures. The website is addressed to tour operators, tourism agencies, tourist boards, tour guide associations and (tourism) ministries that wish to further qualify their tour guides.

The seminars, which are designed with a view to the practical needs of tour guides, are offered for the levels Basic, Advanced and, starting in 2009, Proficiency. The last level is developed in cooperation with the Berlin Office of the “Global Ethic Foundation.” Participants who successfully complete the final exam of the training seminars receive a certificate. To this day, 112 seminars have been held worldwide.

The training seminars are supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. ITB Berlin cooperates in the international marketing of the training seminars.
