ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (eTN) – Celebrating World Tourism Day (WTD), The Region Initiative (TRI) has further extended showing its presence in 15 countries of South Asia, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe as Peace Caravan and Discover Ukraine have joined TRI as partners. Peace Caravan has been moving on the Silk Road region on five occasions, most recently to China. In 2008, Peace Caravan is traveling on Silk Road from Jerusalem, Israel, to deep in China.

Discover Ukraine has been working since year 2006 to connect cultures and countries through tourism and offering strong interaction among central Asia and eastern Europe.

In May 2010, regional intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, tour operators, and other tourism industry stakeholders of South Asia, Central Asia ,and Eastern Europe constituted a stronger and closer relationship under the banner of TRI. Armenia, Bangladesh, India, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tajikistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan are partners of this interregional tourism networking.

TRI is a tri-regional tourism partnership that has 2 intergovernmental tourism organization categories – one national tourism organization and eight non-government tourism organizations.
