The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) is pleased to welcome Louis D’Amore, Founder and President of the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism (IIPT), as one of its founding board members.

ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said: โ€œLouis has always been an inspiration for me in his success to link peace and tourism together. It was not coincidental that ICTP was able to make the first announcement of the formation of our new ICTP destination alliance at the IIPT Meeting the Challenges of Climate Change to Tourism Conference last month in Lusaka, Zambia. The conference received global attention when Zambia’s president announced a week of โ€˜peace through tourism.โ€™

โ€œThe conference opened a number of opportunities for nations in Southern Africa to cooperate on tourism issues. We’re pleased to see not only Zimbabwe, but the Seychelles, Le Reunion, and Johannesburg joined our new ICTP destination alliance as well.โ€

Louis D’Amore said: โ€œI am honored both to be invited to the ICTP alliance as a founding board member and also for IIPT to become a founding member of the ICTP alliance. The announcement of the ICTP alliance at the 5th IIPT African Conference this past month in Lusaka, Zambia, was one of the highlights of the conference, and it was particularly appropriate for the theme of the conference, Meeting the Challenges of Climate Change to Tourism, as a goal for the alliance to support in addition to global green growth strategies.โ€
