The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) announced the appointment of Mr. Shahram Saber as the Vice President of Market Development. Mr. Shahram has an intimate knowledge of the global travel industry and has worked with the Pacific Asia Tourism Association (PATA) and UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in various capacities.

Mr. Saber said, “I am pleased to have the opportunity to be part of this new initiative and look forward to supporting the achievement of its goals.” He commended the founding partners and members of ICTP for their vision and commitment to the formation of this strategic and worthwhile partnership that is long overdue.

The primary goal of the International Council of Tourism Partners is to provide its alliance members with business solutions which enhance existing member efforts, further supporting the growth of the travel and tourism industry with a clear focus on sustainable development, while working to consolidate and enhance respective member market standing and equity. A solution-centric approach is embodied in the organizationโ€™s goals to assist members and ultimately the industry at large.

A key element of ICTP’s efforts will be to work closely with members and other interested organizations to develop effective initiatives to explore new market opportunities and address existing market challenges. The travel and tourism industry is faced with fundamental challenges which require urgent attention, such as access to and securing of new investment, climate change, training and skill shortfalls, removal of growth barriers through process rationalization, and ultimately redefining a community-centric and sustainable development approach for the future.

The ICTP and its alliance members, who represent a broad spectrum of the global industry, have the desire and potential to help shape the future of the travel and tourism industry; to encourage a cooperative and solution-driven approach to addressing industry challenges, starting from their respective local markets and expanding beyond to support the industry at large and cooperate whenever possible.

Chairman Juergen Thomas Steinmetz said: “We’re excited to work with Shahram Saber to take ICTP to the next level. With new founding members that include the Seychelles, Johannesburg, Zimbabwe, La Reunion and others joining even before the official launch in November, we are very encouraged. We are confident that with his decades of experience, Shahram will be an important addition that will help to shape our alliance.โ€
