MIAMI, FL (August 26, 2008) – LAN was once again honored and named the Best Company in South America at the recent World Airline Awards annual ceremony. The prestigious English market research company SkyTrax is the event organizer.

The 2008 award results are based on an annual worldwide passenger survey conducted by SkyTrax. The survey, which was administered between August 2007 and June 2008, is the largest global survey given to airline passengers. Approximately 15 million passenger interviews were conducted by passengers who represented 95 different nationalities. The survey measured about 35 different aspects of passenger satisfaction when using the products and services of each company and evaluated the entire experience both on land and on-board.

The study is named the World Airline Survey and is considered the principal reference tool on levels of satisfaction with worldwide airlines. The analytical format is unique and takes into account the opinion of passengers who travel for business and tourism in all class cabin levels (First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy).

Armando Valdivieso, the general manager of LAN passengers stated, “It is a great honor to receive this recognition because it reflects passengers’ opinions from all over the world. Their preference is the best motivator for the efforts that we put forth daily in offering consistent and differentiating excellence in service, with the goal of offering the best travel experience possible.”
