An article in Air Seychelles magazine writes: “Unprecedented crowds squeezed themselves into every nook and cranny of the capital, Victoria, and le Carnaval de Victoria thundered into town on the evening of Friday the 4th of March 2011 for a grand opening ceremony by the clock tower where President Michel officially launched the event.”

The latest issue of Air Seychelles Silhouette Inflight magazine has come out with the island’s last March carnival gracing its front cover and with a two-page article on pages 62 and 63 of the magazine entitled, “The International Carnival of Victoria Takes the Capital by Storm.”

The Executive Chairman of the airline, Mr. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, writes in his message to the Air Seychelles passengers: “I was also very pleased to see Air Seychelles’ staff participate so enthusiastically in the first International Carnival of Victoria. Your were great ambassadors for the airline and did your part to make the colorful carnival such a success.”

Seychelles staged a carnival with a difference last March when it invited the best and known carnivals of the world to parade alongside the cultural groups from the Community of Nations in an event called the “Melting Pot of Cultures.” The next edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria will be staged in Seychelles from March 2-4, 2012.
