The JAL Group reduced capacity on a portion of its international routes in April and May this year, decreasing flight frequencies and changing fleet plans in order to secure profitability as travel demand declined following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March.

Today, JAL announced that it will extend the period of reduction of frequencies on eight international routes and will reduce those on seven domestic routes until near the end of June. A Boeing 767-300ER aircraft will also remain in use for flights JL3087 and JL3082 between Narita and Nagoya instead of the larger 777-300ER during this time. JAL will resume normal schedules of three daily flights to Honolulu and two daily to Shanghai from Tokyo (Narita) from next month, after temporarily suspending one daily flight on each route since April.

JAL will continue monitoring demand and make corresponding adjustments to capacity while maintaining its international network. JAL apologizes for any inconvenience caused and seeks the kind understanding and cooperation of customers affected by the changes.
