TAM Airlines and Spanair announce codeshare agreement

LONDON, England – Star Alliance partners TAM Airlines and Spanair have a new codeshare agreement (as of 12 May 2011) that allows both companies to expand their range of destinations.

LONDON, England – Star Alliance partners TAM Airlines and Spanair have a new codeshare agreement (as of 12 May 2011) that allows both companies to expand their range of destinations. TAM is offering its customers seats with a JJ* code on the flights operated by Spanair to-and-from Madrid and Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga, Tenerife-Norte and Santiago de Compostela. Spanair is offering seats with a JK code on the daily flight operated by TAM between the Spanish capital and Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil.

โ€œWe are expanding TAM Airlinesโ€™ international network in Europe through this partnership with Spanair. We will be able to provide to our customers greater convenience and comfort with the offer of an extra five destinations in Spain,โ€ says Paulo Castello Branco, Commercial and Alliances VP of TAM.

โ€œWe are very pleased to sign this agreement with TAM Airlines that allows us to expand our network of destinations to Brazil and South America, thanks to our Star Alliance partnership,โ€ says Mike Szucs, CEO of Spanair.

Since May 2010, TAM and Spanair have maintained a Frequent Flyer Program agreement. This partnership allows the TAM Fidelidade program members to earn and redeem points on any flight operated by the Spanish company. In the same way, the members of the SpanairStar program can earn and redeem miles on all TAMโ€™s domestic and international flights.
