Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board is heading the delegation of 17 individuals to the INDABA Tourism Trade Fair. The fair is being held in Durban from May 7-10.
INDABA is the the most important Tourism Trade Fair of Africa. Joining Mr. St.Ange in Durban are David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director for Africa, the Middle East & the Americas; Amia Jovanovic-Desir, the Board’s Senior Marketing Executive; and their Marketing Assistant Myra Fanchette.
As part of the Seychelles official delegation at INDABA 2011 are: Deon Freemantle, Air Seychelles General Manager for South Africa; Anne Sophie Bonnet and Preethi Sushil Nair, Air Seychelles Head Office based International Market Managers; Tinaz Wadia, the Director of Sales from Banyan Tree Seychelles; Johnette Labiche, the Area Director of Sales for Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino; Erica Tirant the Sales Manager for Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino; Blaisila Hoffman, Marketing Manager for Creole Travel Services; John Da Costa, the Business Development Manager from Eden Island; Laura Lotter, Eden Island’s Marketing & Sales Manager; Lenny Alvis, Mason’s Travel Senior Manager – Head of Product & Operations; Jessica Giroux, Mason’s Travel Sales Manager; Shamita Palit, the Marketing & Contracting Manager for Select Seychelles; and Sanjay Nair, the Cluster Director of Sales for Hilton Seychelles.
Marked increases in visitor arrival numbers are being recorded in Seychelles from South Africa and the Southern Africa countries as a block. Air Seychelles today has two weekly flights linking Seychelles and Johannesburg and plans for the introduction of a third frequency are presently being studied. Before leaving the Seychelles for South Africa, Alain St.Ange again confirmed that South Africa remains a very important market for the Seychelles.
“We are the islands of Africa, and we are but four-and-a-half-hours away from Johannesburg. We remain the islands offering choice and diversity of islands in the one holiday for all visitors, because we are the only islands with hilly granitic islands and also with the flat coral islands,” Alain St.Ange said.
Last year the Seychelles launched their “From the Big Five to the Best Five” promotions in South Africa, which was aimed at luring twin center holidays by tying in an African Safari with a Seychelles Paradise Beach Holiday. “This has worked well for Seychelles with many bookings coming in from the Americas via South Africa and East Africa, and from Asia and Europe via East Africa and Southern Africa countries. This has confirmed to us in the Seychelles that Africa will be stronger if Africa decides to work with Africa in its continued development and promotions. Together in unity we can all be strong,” Alain St.Ange said.
