On behalf of our marketing contractor, Hawai’i Tourism Japan (HTJ), we would like to say mahalo to the many business who generously donated to HTJ’s first relief drive on April 16-17, 2011. HTJ visited evacuees in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, an area heavily damaged by the Japan earthquake and tsunami. As part of the “Aloha for Japan” drive, many Hawai’i and Japan based businesses donated goods to HTJ that allowed them to share the aloha spirit with our friends in Japan who are struggling to rebuild after the devastation. HTJ is planning a second relief drive to Miyagi Prefecture on April 27-28. They are also planning the “Aloha Heaven Concert” on June 26 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Hawai’i Convention Center to benefit Aloha for Japan. The concert will feature Na Leo, Jake Shimabukuro, Mฤnoa DNA, Ohta-san and Herb Ohta Jr., Maunalua and Jeff Peterson.
