SKAL is taking job applications for a Secretary General

Summary: Provide leadership to the association at the forefront of the travel and tourism industry. Coordinate with the volunteer Executive Committee to both assist in the development and execution of the strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission/vision and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization. Oversee organization operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources, as well as member satisfaction. Effectively manage office of six in Torremolinos (Spain).

Reports to: Executive Committee of six

Main functions:
1. Membership (maintain relations, grow numbers, proactive and creative recruiting)
2. Administrative (managing office, executive meeting minutes, fiscal management)
3. Sponsorship and Branding (develop innovative concepts, facilitate partnerships and funding)
4. Public Relations (Be an ambassador of SKAL at worldwide organizations such as UNWTO, UNEP, etc. and increase SKAL awareness globally)
Duties:
• Contribute to development and successful implementation of the strategic plan to advance the association’s mission and objectives; promoting this message and the association through media outlets, social networking, tradeshows, events, etc., managing public relations internally and externally
• Oversee association administration to ensure efficiency, quality and cost-effective management of resources.
• Execute strategies for sourcing and securing sponsorship
• Continually strive to improve association operating procedures and standards
• Manage the running of Secretariat and Torremolinos (Spain) office of 6 employees
• Financial management
• Facilitate the on time delivery of all meeting minutes as well as develop timely action plan and follow up for execution of the action items
• Plan four Executive Committee and two full International Council meetings annually
• Increase membership worldwide
• Negotiate barter agreements with major tradeshows
• Execute membership development plan
• Oversee and manage the organization of the annual congress

Effectively manage office of six in Torremolinos (Spain).
Position requirements include:
• Proficient English spoken/written and knowledge of Spanish preferable
• Ability to travel internationally when necessary
• Minimum 5 years tourism executive experience
• Association management experience preferred
• Senior role in public relations/sales & marketing preferred
· Willingness to relocate to Torremolinos (Spain).

The SKÅL Secretariat has six employees and the association owns its offices in Torremolinos (Spain). The association works in three official languages; English, Spanish and French. While the majority of work is done in English a good command of Spanish and/or French is an asset. The remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and is competitive based on European standards and Spanish legal requirements.
