RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – As many as 21 cultural and tourism festivals will be held in different parts of the country during the spring vacation, beginning next week. Thirteen of them will be organized by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA).

The organizing committees have finalized their preparations for the festivals with the support of governorates in the 13 provinces. A variety of cultural, social and sports activities will be held as part of the festivities.

Abdullah Al-Johani, vice chairman of SCTA for marketing and information, said his organization would support such festivals as part of its efforts to boost domestic tourism. โ€œWe encourage Saudis and expatriates to visit Saudi tourist centers during vacations,โ€ he said.

He said the festivals would contribute to increasing demand for tourist facilities in various parts of the country, such as hotels, furnished apartments, recreational centers and fun parks.

โ€œThese festivals and related programs would also strengthen attachments of our youth with their culture, heritage and traditions,โ€ Al-Johani said. โ€œIt will help youth make use of their time in constructive activities,โ€ he added.

Al-Johani said the festivals would encourage businessmen to invest more in tourism projects.
