American expands Asian service with new flights to Shanghai

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines today begins its new nonstop Shanghai, China, service with daily flights from Los Angeles.

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines today begins its new nonstop Shanghai, China, service with daily flights from Los Angeles. American will fly the route with Boeing 777 aircraft which feature 16 First Class, 37 Business Class and 194 Economy Class seats.

“There are definite synergies between the San Francisco and Shanghai communities,” said Cathy Berg, Regional Vice President โ€“ Passenger Sales. “Both are world-class trading and transportation hubs. With our six daily flights from San Francisco to Los Angeles, this is an easy connection to the markets and businesses of China and beyond. The Los Angeles cornerstone hub offers many Asian travel options, either on American or the easy connections to the world through our oneworldยฎ Alliance partners.”

The new Shanghai service departs Los Angeles at 3:10 p.m. each day. It is part of a major expansion of the Los Angeles cornerstone hub that will see more than 30 flights added today to 15 communities for a total of over 150 daily
flights.

For those not bound for Shanghai, American Airlines offers 31 flights to and from San Francisco each day, carrying passengers to and through American’s five cornerstone hubs โ€“ Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York’s JFK, Los Angeles and Miami โ€“ as well as nonstop service to Honolulu. And American’s oneworldยฎ Alliance partners, Cathay Pacific, Japan Air Lines and Qantas, offer flights from San Francisco International Airport to Hong Kong, Sydney and Tokyo.
