He has without a doubt one of the travel and tourism industry’s most impressive resumes. In a career that spans over four decades of experience, Geoffrey Lipman has worked for the International Association of Air Transport, the World Travel & Tourism Council, and, most recently, as the assistant secretary general of the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Mr. Lipman has retired from his post at the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), but that does not mean that the man is going to retire to his house in Brussels. His actions in recent months all point to one indisputable fact: the man is not quite done yet.
Recently at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel exhibition, I caught up with him and, yet again, got my necessary schooling on anything and everything about travel and tourism. The below clip shows Mr. Lipman reacting to the ongoing uprising in certain parts of the world and the phenomenons’ connection to tourism.
