The Seychelles and the West African State of Gabon have met in Libreville to discuss cooperation in the field of tourism. Gabon’s Advisor to the President for Tourism Development, Annie Blondel, and Amandine Ogouebandja, from the Cabinet Office of Minister Magloire Ngambia, Gabon’s Minister for the Economy, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, had invited Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board for an official working visit to Gabon to discuss areas of cooperation.

Gabon is today saying that it is now ready to launch itself in the world of tourism, and they want to benefit from the experiences of a country with a succesful and well-managed tourism industry. Alain St.Ange, who is credited with having turned the Seychelles tourism industry around after being appointed CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, was invited to discuss with the Gabon government officials the assistance that Seychelles could offer as consultants and as African Union (AU) country-to-country assistance.

The Seychelles Tourism CEO Alain St.Ange and Gabon’s Minister Magloire Ngambia held different meetings in Libreville in Gabon and with Amandine Ogouebandja of his Cabinet Office where they ironed out a way forward in future cooperation.

“It was a great opportunity to discover a country now opening itself to tourism, and it was with a feeling of pride that I saw the recognition Seychelles has achieved in the field of managing its tourism industry and marketing itself as a tourism destination,” Alain St.Ange said in Libreville, Gabon.

The Seychelles is today respected as being a country that has revisited its own tourism industry and launched its very own “Seychelles brand” of tourism. The country’s President Mr. James Michel personally holds the portfolio for tourism and has been instrumental in the relaunch of the island’s tourism through his own vision, aptly named the “Seychelles brand” of tourism.
