For 34 years now, Italian couple Fabrizio Banfi and Laura Regina from Milan has made the Seychelles islands with its beautiful scores of white sandy beaches and magnificent lush-green mountains, as their favorite holiday spot on Earth.
Mr. Banfi and Mrs. Regina came on their first Seychelles’ holiday back in August 1977, when they stayed at the then newly-opened Le Meridien Barbarons Resort, which over the years has established itself as one of Seychelles’ leading hotels.
Since their first holiday here, the couple have been returning to the islands every March, and each time they stayed at Le Meridien Barbarons’ sister hotel, Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove, another well-known Seychelles’ resort.
The only time they chose the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino, was when Le Meridien Fisherman’s was under renovation.
The couple’s fondness of the Seychelles islands even triumphed over other world destinations in getting them to say their special “I do” in Seychelles, where they took their vows in a small civil wedding ceremony in March 1998.
Fabrizio and Laura have this year returned for a special holiday to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.
Their love for Seychelles is testament to the stories of all those who have been captured by the irresistible beauty of the islands.
“We have traveled a lot and visited many places with similar features to Seychelles, but they are not as beautiful as Seychelles,” said Mr. Banfi.
“Each year we save so that we can come visit the Seychelles islands with its many beautiful beaches and green mountains, and we will keep choosing the islands as long as we are in good health.”
As a sign of recognition for the many times they have visited Seychelles, Bernadette Dogley of the Seychelles Tourism Board was at the airport to welcome the couple upon arrival.
Ms. Dogley again met with the special couple last Tuesday to present them with a small token of appreciation on behalf of the Tourism Board, whereby Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove General Manager Mathieu de Tonnac was also there to meet with their loyal guests.
