The Seychelles wasted no time after the close of their successful 2011 carnival to meet with foreign carnival experts who participated in the Seychelles carnival to plan the island´s 2012 edition of their “Carnival des Carnivals.”

At a working lunch at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Beach Hotel & Casino, Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and his Deputy, Elsia Grandcourt, alongside the Seychelles Minister of Culture, Mr. Bernard Shamlaye, and his Principle Secretary, Raymonde Onezime, hosted Claire Holder, Chris Nortey, and others from the Carnival Roadshow Co Ltd. from Great Britain who were responsible to bring the Notting Hill Carnival delegation to the Seychelles carnival. Present also at the working lunch were the British High Commissioner, HE Mathew Forbes; Lima Calbio, the SOCA Music Queen from Trinidad & Tobago; and the known eTurboNews journalist from Hawaii, Juergen Steinmetz.

Alain St.Ange sought to get the feedback from the the carnival experts who had been present as participants at the creole islands first carnival. “We wanted to get a first-hand impression from those attending carnivals as professionals. We wanted to see how our October Festival Kreol could benefit from the successes of the Seychelles carnival, and we wanted to see how we could benefit from the experience of the Carnival Roadshow Company with regards to Sponsorships and Press,” Alain St.Ange said.

The lunch meeting proved to have been an important venue for consolidating the working relationship with the overseas participants from the world of carnivals and to map out a way forward to keep the “Carnaval International de Victoria” of the Seychelles as the only carnival of carnivals with its aim of attracting not only the established, but the best, carnivals from the whole wide world to have a delegation at the Seychelles annual early March carnival.
The UK´s Notting Hill Carnival and Lima Calbio from Trinidad & Tobago have both confirmed their participation in the 2012 Seychelles Carnival set for March 2-4, 2012.
