Indian tourists discover Paris

MUMBAI – Paris has made it to the itinerary of several Indians.

MUMBAI – Paris has made it to the itinerary of several Indians. According to the data released by the France tourism development agency, India is at the tenth slot, in terms of the tourists visiting the country. In 2010, 230,000 lakh Indians visited Paris, most were first-time travellers.

Topping the charts are Americans -over 1,200,000 visit Paris each year. But while the number of Americans is dropping, Indians are showing more interest in Paris. Whereas, during 2009 and 2010, there has been a 15% rise in Indians flying to Paris.

According to Paul Roll, director general of the tourism office, nearly 800,000 Indians will travel to Paris by 2020.
