The known and reputed French-based “Afrique Asie” magazine has published an editorial on page 10 of its January issue to explain the coming Seychelles carnival. “A carnival unlike all others” is the title of the article, which brings out the difference between the new Seychelles carnival with those existing.

An extract of the article is as follows: “After Rio and the New Orleans, the Seychelles is set to have its own carnival which will be held from the 4 to the 6 March. The carnival idea has been brought about by Alain St.Ange, the new Head of the Seychelles Tourism Board. Its ‘carnival des carnivals’ is a regrouping of the the people of Seychelles and of the ‘world of carnivals’ where many foreign delegations are expected to participate.”

The Seychelles Tourism Board expressed its satisfaction with the visibility that Seychelles is obtaining because of the carnival. The “Afrique Asie” magazine article comes out just ahead of the launch of the carnival next week, and the Seychelles Tourism Board has said that it is expecting to receive world-wide press coverage of the event, because a big group of 39 international press personalities are expected to start arriving in Seychelles from this coming weekend.

“This is exactly why Seychelles embarked on this adventure – to be part of the world of carnivals. As we open Seychelles to the community of nations to showcase their own culture, attractions, and diversity through participation in our carnival, Seychelles, as the host country, will benefit from added visibility,” Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and eTurboNews Ambassador said.

A total of some 74 carnival floats are expected to parade in the streets of Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, on the second day of the carnival. Over 20 of the floats are from outside the Seychelles, and these delegations are expected to start arriving in the Seychelles from this coming weekend.
