It was vintage Bryan Adams on Saturday taking the senses of tens of thousands of fans at Kathmandu, the Capital City of Nepal, by storm as he serenaded them, “Everything I do, I do it for you.”

Earlier in the day, Adams notified his fans here of his arrival through his Twitter page. “Just flew over Everest into Kathmandu, Nepal. We are the first western band to play here,” he twitted. Live at Dashrath Stadium in the heart of Kathmandu, the Grammy winner performed on the colossal 2,600 square feet stage with three Nepali artists. 1974 AD Band, Raju Lama of Mongolian Heart and Ishwor Gurung & Namaste Band accompanied the first ever-western rock star to perform on Nepali soil.

The Nepali bands played their smash hit numbers before Adams took the stage to mesmerize the audience with signature tracks like Everything I do, Summer of 69, Here I Am, Please Forgive Me, Straight from the Heart and others. Adams lit the audience’s fire when he called a female member of the audience onstage to sing with him. Adams usually performs the song When You’re Gone with an unsuspecting female member of the audience. This nonce, it was a young Nepali girl shrieking with excitement.

It was 30 years ago that the Canadian rock singer debuted with his self-titled album. It was, however, only with the release of his third studio album Reckless that he obtained commercial success. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 list in 1984. Heaven was the most successful single from Reckless at the time of its release, reaching number one on Billboard Hot 100 and number nine on the mainstream rock chart. Adams has 20 albums to his credit and has been nominated for 15 Grammy awards including a win for Best Song (Everything I Do). He has sold around 70 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide.

Although the event was hyped as exclusive, Dashrath Stadium gates opened for everyone. Hordes of fans listening to Adams from outside finally got in to get a first-hand experience.
