Malta-based hotel operator CHI Hotels & Resorts (formerly Corinthia Hotels International) has won the coveted title of ‘Leading Provider of Travel Deals, Europe’ at the ‘Travelzoo Awards 2008’ gala ceremony held recently in Chicago, USA.
Travelzoo annually celebrates the companies behind the best deals in 20 categories, including airlines, hotels, vacation companies, cruise agencies, cruise lines, shows and events, car rentals and destinations. Travelzoo’s 40 deal experts regularly consult with more than 900 travel companies around the world to uncover the best deals.
In determining this year’s winners, the experts evaluated over 67,000 deals featured in 2007 based on the criteria of Reliability, Appeal, Competitiveness, Consistency and Quality. The Awards Committee then proceeded to choose the overall winners in the 20 categories.
“Every day the travel industry inspires millions of people to escape their daily lives and explore new places,” said C.J. Kettler, president North America, Travelzoo. “It is such an honor for us to recognize the companies that are the best at not only inspiring travelers, but creating deals that make travel accessible, affordable and easy to book. All 20 of our winners honored tonight are leaders in this industry.”
An elated Tony Potter, chief executive officer and managing director of CHI Hotels & Resorts commented, “We are obviously delighted at being presented with this highly-prestigious award by such a reputable brand as Travelzoo. Wining this award was no mean feat, especially considering that our management company now operates a multi-brand portfolio of hotels that includes the luxury Corinthia Hotels brand worldwide and the upscale Wyndham and Ramada Plaza brands in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The marketing effort of this varied portfolio is largely driven by a small but talented nucleus of people at our Malta headquarters, and it is their effort and that of their peers in the various hotels that have gained us this unique accolade. My congratulations go to them and my thanks to Travelzoo for recognizing their achievements in this manner.”
