World Travel Awards has announced an extension to the self-nomination deadline due to overwhelming demand.

Originally scheduled to close on February 4, the deadline has been extended by a further two weeks to Friday, February 18.

This year has seen an unprecedented number of self nominations with hundreds of organizations eager to take part in the โ€œOscars of the travel industry.โ€ Winners will be able to savor the kudos associated with holding the ultimate travel accolade, as well as numerous commercial benefits.

Given the huge increase in self nominations this year, competition for companies wishing to retain their titles from 2010 will be fiercer than ever. New companies meanwhile will have had to have brought something extra special to the market if they are to snatch the crowns in their categories.

Entry will remain open to categories in Africa, Asia, Australasia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Indian Ocean, Middle East, North America, South America, Travel Technology, and World.

The entry form can be completed online or downloaded from www.worldtravelawards.com/entry2011 .
