NEW YORK, NY – Barbados Tourism Authority has won the DEPARTURES Luxury Marketing Achievement Award, it was announced last night by DEPARTURES VP/Publisher Steven DeLuca at the 54th annual HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International) Adrian Awards Gala at the Marriott Marquis in New York. Barbados Tourism Authority was chosen for the best print advertising campaign celebrating luxury marketing in the hospitality industry among Adrian Awards submissions. The 8th annual DEPARTURES award finalists also included Crystal Cruises and Emirates. The winner is determined by a panel of judges who are c-level or senior level executives of leading luxury companies.

Austin Husbands, deputy chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority accepted the award on behalf of Barbados Tourism Authority with MMG Worldwide SVP/Chief Creative Officer Stewart Colovin.

“As the world’s leading luxury travel magazine, it’s a great honor to recognize Barbados Tourism Authority for their creative, effective and memorable advertising,” said DeLuca.

The DEPARTURES Luxury Marketing Achievement Award judges were Corinne Ng, vice president of strategic partnerships of American Express; Rachelle Giroux, president of Paul & Shark USA, Inc.; Eric Lichtmess, director of advertising of Louis Vuitton, North America; Jason Lundy, senior vice president of global marketing of Moet Hennessy USA; Melissa Pordy; Franck Sarrabezolles, regional advertising manager of the Americas of Emirates; and Richard David Story, svp/editor in chief of DEPARTURES. The panel evaluated the print campaign based on creativity, effectiveness in appealing to consumers’ emotions and evoking a luxury experience, execution and results against stated objectives.

The HSMAI Adrian Awards honor creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality, travel and tourism-related marketing. In its 54th year, the competition has evolved into the world’s most renowned and prestigious advertising, public relations and digital marketing competition customized to the hospitality, travel and tourism industries.
