LAS VEGAS, Nevada – “Most business travelers will tell you that the airport is among the worst places to lose power on your smartphone because you’re basically stranded – sometimes literally – with nothing else to do,” said Ran Poliakine, Powermat CEO. “In addition, searching for an outlet in an airport is worse than trying to find a needle in a haystack in terms of the level of frustration and difficulty.”

Seeking to streamline the process of airport navigation and travel for consumers worldwide, Arconas and Powermat have announced an agreement to bring wireless charging capability to airports worldwide.

Through its recently established business-to-business arm, Powermat Integrated (PMI), Powermat will unveil a solution specifically catering to the airline traveler at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The incorporation of wireless charging into airport seating and lounge areas is an unprecedented step toward bringing wireless energy to markets that are both untapped and ripe for the convenience and ease of wireless power integration.

“Our airport products are designed to enhance the air traveler’s experience with as many value-added customer amenities as possible,” said Pablo Reich, Executive Vice President of Arconas. “The ability to wirelessly charge their devices while in the airport will improve the entire travel experience for so many. It’s a fundamental step forward that the air-traveler will appreciate, perhaps more than any other.”

Powermat’s vision is to create a wireless world where access to wire-free power is as pervasive as Wi-Fi. Powermat will continue to develop its technology to enable even greater adaptation in venues where consumers will benefit most.
