Suva – Fiji is working harder to attract more tourists from China and India, according to Dixon Seeto, president of Fiji Islands Hotel & Tourism Association (FHITA) on Monday.

Seeto told local media that FHITA is working with stakeholders to get more visitors from new markets and the 23.5 million Fijian dollars (12.6 million U.S. dollars) allocation in the government’s 2011 budget will be used to improve the industry and attract more tourists from China and India.

Seeto said the FHITA will work closely with tourism stakeholders to ensure that there is improvement to the industry, hoping to achieve the target to attract more tourists to the country as tourism in avenue to improve its economy.

The tourist sector would make Fiji a more enjoyable destination and attract tourists in from established and new markets like China and India, said the FHITA president.

China has become Fiji’s fastest growing emerging tourism market, it was reported.
