Coex Convention Center in Seoul, South Korea, the venue of the G20 Seoul Summit in November, has launched steeply discounted group tour packages for Coex trade show buyers for the year 2011. The initiative comes through Coex’s new Global Business Unit, which was formed to match the company’s staggering growth in the international MICE industry following Seoul’s emergence as a top MICE destination worldwide. The new buyer promotion package is part of a burst of exhibition promotions for the new year.

Coex, a subsidiary of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), is both Korea’s top convention center as well as its biggest trade show organizer. The center organizes 20 international trade shows yearly in addition to hosting over 200 exhibitions total.

The new promotion was designed to create a convenient experience for all Coex exhibition visitors, especially those who are traveling to Korea for the first time. The tour package includes hotel accommodations, ground transportation, a Seoul city tour, and an English speaking guide during transportation and tourism activities. All packages are arranged through Coex’s exclusive travel partner, Holiday Planners, one of the top travel service providers in the country.

Tour options range from half day to full day tours, and destinations can be chosen from a menu of options such as museums, markets, palaces, and more. Foreign tour agencies can work with Coex’s local partner for custom packages as well. Commission-based partnerships are available for international tour companies.

Coex’s other 2011 exhibition promotions include international pavilion discount packages for all foreign trade and commerce organizations that are interested in attending Coex exhibitions. A joint information banquet co-organized with Seoul Global Business Support Center took place at Coex on December 10th to promote the pavilion package and other international investment opportunities. Attendees from foreign embassies around the city attended the event.

Coex has set a goal for itself of attracting 10,000 international trade show visitors in 2011, a more than 50% increase from the 4,000 that attended for trade shows in 2010. The tour package and international pavilion package are just the beginning of a international push to turn Coex and Seoul into an even more global meetings destination in the new decade.

More information about the group tour package program and Coex’s other international promotions is available on the center’s website at www.coex.co.kr/eng .
