Looking for the best place to start the New Year off on a triumphant note and have a few drinks with several thousand other fun-minded people? According to pubclub.com’s annual list of Top Party Places for New Yearโ€™s Eve, New Orleans ranks number one.

โ€œNew Yearโ€™s Eve is the biggest party night of the year, but it can also be the most difficult,โ€ said Kevin Wilkerson, president, PubClub.com. โ€œLocal bars often charge up to US$50 just because itโ€™s New Yearโ€™s Eve, and there are dozens of promoter parties in various cities, so itโ€™s difficult to make a decision on where to go thatโ€™s the most fun. PubClub.comโ€™s Top Party Places article focuses areas that have large, outdoor celebrations and numerous people out having great time.

โ€œNew Orleans remains our top choice because itโ€™s so easy to party for New Yearโ€™s Eve in the ‘Big Easy.’ Thereโ€™s a band, countdown, and fireworks outside – all for free – thousands of people walking throughout the French Quarter, and, of course, Bourbon Street. New Orleans also has the โ€˜Sugar Bowl factor,โ€™ which brings in college students and fans from two schools for the game.โ€

Also included on the list are Prague, Sydney, Las Vegas, Rio, and the legendary Foxyโ€™s in the British Virgin Islands. Several other destinations include Amsterdam, Honolulu, London, and Key West. And because New Yearโ€™s Eve is such a big event, and there are so many locations to celebrate, a number of locations are on the list including Las Vegas (plus the Las Vegas Strip), Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, and Whistler.

PubClub.com has been covering the party scene and nightlife around the world since 2001.
