EIBTM in Barcelona sees Seychelles reposition itself for the MICE market

The tropical islands of the Seychelles used the EIBTM Trade Fair in Barcelona to tell the world that they are now ready for the Incentive & Conference Market.

The tropical islands of the Seychelles used the EIBTM Trade Fair in Barcelona to tell the world that they are now ready for the Incentive & Conference Market. The Seychelles Tourism Board’s delegation to EIBTM was headed by Bernadette Willemin, the Board’s Director for Europe, and assisted by Karen Confait, the Seychelles Marketing Executive based in Paris.

The Seychelles private sector after the MICE Market was Eric Renard and Helene Pillay of Creole Travel Services, Leonard Alvis of Mason’s Travel, Laurent Alis of Seychelles Connect, and Jenny Seraphine of the Meridien Hotels in Seychelles. “Incentives and Conferencing in Seychelles is now a real possibility,” said Bernadette Willemin after the EIBTM Trade Fair.

The Seychelles Islands have benefitted from marked increase in air access capacity in 2010, and more hotels in Seychelles are today offering conference facilities. Jenny Seraphine of the Meridien Hotels used the EIBTM Trade Fair to launch the Meridien Hotel’s very new Barbarons Beach Conference Room.

Europe is today well served by different airlines flying to Seychelles. This has opened up the possibility of Incentives and Conferencing market for Seychelles. Air Seychelles continues to offer five weekly direct flights from Paris to Seychelles and two from the UK with a stop in Italy. Emirates Airline on the other hand is offering Seychelles with one stop only from anywhere in the world with their daily flights out of Dubai (seven flights per week). Qatar Airways operates four weekly flights to Seychelles out of Doha, Condor with one weekly flight out of Frankfurt, and Kenya Airways with their two weekly flights from their Nairobi hub.
