The Seychelles Islands were recently party to the Indian Ocean Roadshow in Austria, where they traveled across the cities of Linz, Klagenfurt, Graz, and Vienna to promote the destination with its products and services.

Held between October 18-21, this road show, which also had the participation of neighboring islands Mauritius and Reunion, was organized by Austrian tour operators, Jumbo Group and Ruefa Reisen.

Seychelles was represented in this roadshow by the Seychelles regional manager based in its Tourist Office in Germany, Edith Hunzinger, who is also responsible for the Austrian market along with Christine Vel, the marketing executive for the region.

The country also had the participation of the local tour operator (DMC), Creole Travel Services, and the Hotel Coco de Mer, and Black Parrot Suites. Presentation on the islands and its various attributes were conducted with travel agents from the four cities. Reports in after the Austria Roadshow show clearly that Seychelles had a good turnout with the participation of travel agents in Linz, Klagenfurt, Graz, and in Vienna.

The Seychelles new drive since the launching of the Island’s “Seychelles brand” of tourism by the island’s President James Michel has seen the island move aggresively in their marketing drive in all their markets. Tourism remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy and President James Michel of the Seychelles personally holds the tourism portfolio in his government.

Alain St.Ange, the island’s CEO of the Tourism Board and eTurboNews ambassador, said: “Today we are looking at Austria, yesterday it was South Africa, next week it is Tanzania and South America, and by the time a big Seychelles Tourism Delegation heads for the World Travel Market in London, another delegation will be in India to mark the launch of the start of direct airlink by Air Seychelles to Chennai. We are leaving no stones unturned to consolidate the pillar of the Seychelles Islands’ economy. We are now willing, able, and committed to tell the world that we are the holiday destination for 2011.”
