Finnish Aviation Union to strike on Monday

On Sunday evening Finish Aviation Union (IAU) and airlines’ representative rejected state mediator Esa Lonka’s call for a new pay deal.

On Sunday evening Finish Aviation Union (IAU) and airlines’ representative rejected state mediator Esa Lonka’s call for a new pay deal.

IAU said that the union members will start a strike on Monday, at 5 a.m. local time.

Operations of Finnair, Finncomm and SAS’s Blue1 will be severely affected by a walk-out of about 900 air transport technical staff, that will halt aircraft maintenance.

In a statement issued regarging the upcoming strike, Finland’s national carrier Finnair said: “Finnair will make every effort to operate normally, but delays and cancellations are possible.”
