HONOLULU, HI (eTN) – Unknown to the crew of a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Portland, Oregon, the aircraft was hit by a bird strike, which caused damaged to an engine and wing flaps. The damage was not found until the flight had concluded and the airplane landed safely in Portland.

Hundreds of passengers expecting to fly from Portland to Honolulu, were put up in hotels and had their meals taken care of by Hawaiian.

The plane that was damaged is currently under inspection by mechanics, and is not yet authorized to fly. The passengers of the cancelled flight are scheduled to depart Portalnd on Tuesday, October 12 on a different aircraft at 12:30 pm.
