IMPORTANT UPDATE: Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) wishes to inform the public and tourism stakeholders, both local and international, that hot air balloon operations in the Serengeti National Park resumed on October 1 after the incident that occured on September 29, 2010.

This statement also clarifies the wrongly-reported story, which was carried out by a local newspaper that “Balloon operations in the Serengeti were banned by TANAPA.” The truth is that Serengeti Balloon Safaris themselves suspended operations for 24 hours following the incident and have been operating since October 1 and continued to fly daily.

TANAPA wishes to assure both local and international tourists, tour operators, and travel agents that hot air balloon safaris are continuing as usual and that all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety of passengers.
